Background
MTP were asked to facilitate and deliver a business acumen training program for sales people using the Business Challenge virtual business simulation.
Objectives
The specific learning outcomes agreed upon were to improve participants’ ability to:
- Use financial metrics to inform business decisions.
- Make business decisions cross-functionally.
- Create business proposals that met company and customer financial needs.
What MTP Delivered
The material created features short interactive sessions that link elements of the simulation to key issues that affect a Unilever sales manager’s day-to-day role, covering finance, marketing and strategy.
The sessions are run on webinar software, and are designed to be as interactive as possible by making full use of quizzes, polls, group discussions and short industry-specific case studies.
Following each webinar session participants compete in virtual groups to run a company, making key business decisions based on their learning such as pricing, innovation, adverting/promotion and capital investment.
The programme is run over four successive days made up of online sessions of four hours allowing for 16 sets of decisions.
After successful delivery to the sales function, the programme was extended to all functions and been delivered to managers in different locations across the world.
